Since early 2018, EMPA has been an AWS IoT partner in Turkey, implementing turnkey Cloud-IoT projects on AWS services. In parallel, it has been gaining first-hand experience with AI solutions from manufacturers such as ST and AMD-Xilinx, focusing on image analysis on FPGAs and machine learning on Arm® Cortex® microcontrollers. By integrating this expertise into applicable projects, EMPA accelerates the innovation processes of its customers.
The Fourth Industrial Revolution, also known as digital transformation, has become an undeniable reality and a vital necessity for all industries. This is not just another wave of digitalization; it encompasses all processes, from product development to customer experience.
Key factors driving digital transformation are cloud computing and the big data it generates. The flexibility, scalability, and cost-effective access offered by cloud computing, when combined with low-power communication technologies and new processor innovations, have enabled rapid implementation in the field. As a result, the volume of data collected globally has grown significantly.
AI (Artificial Intelligence) is a revolutionary technology that enables the processing, interpretation, and utilization of this big data across various domains. With today’s advanced processors and the internet, AI has made remarkable progress, offering fast and practical solutions to problems that were previously unsolvable through conventional algorithms.
For many years, Empa Elektronik has been conducting R&D activities in all these fields. Since early 2018, Empa Teknoloji, a division of Empa, has been an AWS IoT partner in Turkey, developing turnkey Cloud-IoT projects based on AWS services. As a result of this expertise, Empa has designed EmpaCloud, a general-purpose Cloud-IoT Device Management Platform.
In parallel, leveraging its expertise in embedded systems, Empa Teknoloji has been working on edge AI technologies since 2019, continuously expanding its library. By directly experimenting with AI solutions from ST and AMD-Xilinx, Empa integrates its practical knowledge into projects, helping clients accelerate their innovation cycles. Its AI research focuses on image analysis on FPGAs and machine learning on Arm® Cortex® microcontrollers.
Additionally, Empa Teknoloji has developed Tiremo, a project under İ.T.Ü. ARI Teknokent. Tiremo is an end-to-end platform designed to enable selected AI models to run on ultra-small microcontrollers. It allows non-AI experts to integrate AI capabilities into different industries and applications, providing an accessible, fast, and easy entry into AI development with the necessary hardware and tools included.
